The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Love Sick collection and the Blood Sugar eyeshadow palette have been everywhere on social media the last few weeks, with everyone hyped for the release. Jeffree Star was super generous and sent me the entire collection, which as you guys know I love his products so much so couldn’t believe my eyes when he tweeted me and said he was sending these out to me. Living in Australia I thought this package would take another week or so to get here but it arrived under a week from the launch so i’m pretty pumped to get into these products thoroughly and give them a go.
Even though these were sent to me, you all know that I am always 100% honest with you guys on here no matter if I was sent product or not. I want to help you guys out with deciding if you want part or all of this collection. The full collection is available here if you want to check it out.
Alright now lets get into the review and swatches of all this goodness!
First up is the mini pink & red liquid lipstick bundle ($52USD) and how CUTE are these lipsticks!! The bundle includes: Doll Parts, Calabasas, Wifey, Watermelon Soda, Anna Nicole, Prom Night, Redrum and Unicorn Blood. I love all of these shades so i’m super excited to have these mini for when I don’t have the space in my bag for the regular sized lipsticks. But to be honest i’ll probably just display them in my makeup room for now, coz they are just too pretty to use.
Next up is the Velour Lip Scrubs ($12USD) and they come in three flavours. I’ve got Cherry Soda and Candy Necklace and there is also Chocolate Covered Strawberry which sounds sooo yum. I love anything Cherry flavoured and this one smells just like Cherry Coke to me so I can’t wait to use it. Candy Necklace brings back memories of my childhood as I used to always have a candy necklace around my neck, these flavours are probably my favourite that have been released so far!
The Lip Ammunition ($18USD) formula is probably one of my favourite bullet lipstick formulas. That wasn’t always the case as when they first released my ‘Celebrity Skin’ lip ammo felt a bit grainy and didn’t glide on the lips so well but the last three L.E collections with Lip Ammos have been super smooth and easy to apply on the lips with one swipe pigment and these are no exception. From left to right the shades are Androgyny, Calabasas and Sinister. When I watched the reveal video and saw that two of my favourite velour liquid lipstick shades (Androgyny & Calabasas) were being released in Lip Ammunitions I knew I had to have them and they are just stunning!! Can’t wait to wear them!
Right here is THE BEST liquid lipstick formula I’ve come across so adding more shades to my Velour Liquid Lipsticks ($18USD) is always a good thing. As I’m writing this out I’m wearing the shade Romeo (far left) and it is super comfortable on the lips and only had to apply one layer for full pigment on the lips. I haven’t tried the other shades on my lips yet but they all swatched beautifully. The only thing with Problematic (far right) because it is a berry shade you will need to do two layers for an even finish on the lips but it is such a gorgeous colour it is worth the extra time to apply.
When I saw the top three shade above in the reveal video I instantly wondered how similar they were to existing shades I had from the line so below is a comparison swatch to help those looking at buying these when they might already have similar shades.
Now for probably my favourite part of this new launch……the BLOOD SUGAR eyeshadow palette!!!
The BLOOD SUGAR eyeshadow palette retails for $52USD and honestly for 18 shades and this packaging it is 100% worth it in my opinion. It is currently on pre-order on the website as the first 100,000 units sold in less than 3 minutes on launch day!
I love the detail of this palette, from the vegan leather packaging, to the medical vibes, the shade range, just everything! The previous two Jeffree Star Cosmetics palettes have incredible formulas so I had extremely high expectations for this palette.
The formula is incredible!! smooth and pigmented and easy to blend. I tried a few of the shades today and ‘Root Canal’ and ‘Prick’ being bright, neon shades needed to be worked up to get the brightness and opacity I wanted from them, but with these kinds of bright shades I like that instead of having too much all at once and have to blend forever to tone it down. I experienced no fall out with the shades I tried and they all blended nicely together without getting muddy.
Above is the look I created, inspired by one of the campaign photos for the palette. I used the shades Glucose, Tongue Pop, Root Canal, Prick, Extraction, Coma and Candy Floss.
If I had to pick my top 3 from the collection it would be the BLOOD SUGAR palette, Calabasas Lip Ammunition and Cherry Soda Velour Lip Scrub. What are you favourites? Did you pick anything up from the collection? Would love to know your thoughts in the comments below.
